Based in Nagoya city, SHOKA ( Calligraphy artist )Started learning calligraphy in 1974, stepped into professional career in 1996.Watanabe's works is not only writing characters on the paper, but also works for decoration such as show windows at famous Department Store.She also works for interior drawing at private houses, restaurants and hotels, producing logos for Japanese confectionary shop.Besides the works fixed in limited spaces, her challenge is unlimited. Through the activities of live performance, workshops and exhibitions at many events, she keep trying to express humans sensitivities by the power of calligraphy.Since 2003, she started to show the series of 3D installation works adapted Light and Shade. It's her next challenge to express the space itself by the calligraphy. This series of works (11 pcs ) were introduced as "The first and only calligraphy 3D works " in The South Australian Museum, Adelaide.Her works is getting reputation internationally as well.
